About the Play
A Modern Prometheus is a one-act play born out of a Playwriting Course held at the Maggie Flanigan Studio during the summer of 2023. The play surrounds a troupe of actors staging a production of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein on the eve of the United States' dropping of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima. The play poses the question of what makes a monster, and how do we as a society deal with the responsibility of our creation?
